Hi everybody! I am seriously considering a spinolution wheel. I know I’m a bit dreamy, but I would love to try one close to home! Anyone have one within 100 miles from Rice Lake /Barron, Wisconsin area? My closest dealer is 2 hours away, which isn’t terrible but just thought I’d check!

I’ve had this wheel for about 4 years. I’ve only had to charge it 4-5 times. This wheel does not have the new golden whorl, however since it is electric and you adjust the speed with a dial, I didn’t see any reason to upgrade. The newest Fireflies also now come with a fuse on the back. This wheel does not have one.
I didn’t like the original foot pedal, so I purchased a new one that worked much better for me. The lazy kate was made by A Cache of Jewels on etsy, and works great for thread plying, and for winding your singles after the bobbin is full. It originally came with a light weight wooden dowel spindle, but I thought it wasn’t heavy duty enough for those big bobbins, so I changed it out for an old metal knitting needle. The side that pivots back to put on the bobbin is a bit loose, but it works.
Damages:
1. The magnetic washer that fits the bobbins to the flyer sticks in the bobbin after use. (5th photo) I usually use a knitting needle point to gently pry it out and slide back on the shaft when changing bobbins. I’ve read this is a common problem and the magnet should be glued back on. I will let the new owner decide.
One of the pegs is crooked. I’m not sure how it happened. It is not bent, just leaning a little bit as seen in the photo. It doesn’t affect anything.
The top left “T” of the wooden break broke off. Since the tension is controlled by the knob at the bottom of the piece, it does not harm any function of the wheel.
Please look closely at photos and ask any questions you might have.
2005 Betty Roberts Skeiner (Swift) For Sale as of April 29, 2019.
Betty Roberts made this skeiner (swift) in 2005. She had help from Lon, her apprentice at the time. My sister and I asked Betty to make a skeiner for our burgeoning spinning hobby. We were spinning large quantities of yarn - enough for sweaters and blankets - and too much yardage for a Niddy-Noddy to handle. Winding handspun onto this swift makes a 2-yard loop, thus making a nice large skein of yarn.
To use: Place a bobbin of plied handspun on a lazy kate or other holder and secure to one spoke. Turn spokes with one finger near the hub (center) while guiding the yarn along each spoke end. It works very well for large quantities of handspun, and will count the yardage for you by ringing a bell every 100 yards! There is also a ‘clock face’ with one hand that shows measurements at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards. (Yardage counts are approximate.)

Pretty example of Norwegian wheel. Including a photo of the charming little note that was attached. Washers were added to keep the treadle centered between the legs.
I have not spun on this wheel, you can see the flyer has been glued. I think it is wonderful though it is the original. To me all wheels need not be spinners and joyful to look at.

Swing Picker for sale. It’s made out of red oak and features 334 points. It has also been finished with Tung Oil, so its condition is better than like-new. The dimensions are approximately 25” long by 25” high by 10.5” wide.
This is a very heavy beast, so “local” pick-up is ideal, though I’m willing to drive it a reasonable distance and/or meet you half-way. (It currently resides in NW Indiana.)

Makes a pleasant waterfall sound when rotating to spin. This wheel is a joy to spin on. Comes with RR lazy Kate and three bobbins. Has a couple small scratches and a small ding in back of wheel post,other wise normal wear. Asking $1300 or reasonable offer.

I purchased the wheel in 2016 used from another Ravelry member who finished the wheel with Danish Oil in Cherry and painted the drive wheel a deep burgundy. There is a slight splinter on the drive wheel where she had some difficulty putting in the headpin during assembly but it does not affect the function of the wheel.
This was my first spinning wheel and I absolutely loved it. It was used to spin miles of yarn. There are a few small dings and it has picked up some dirt and marks over the years but still spins great. I’m selling because I purchased a 2nd wheel in 2016 and just haven’t found myself using the Kiwi much anymore and there’s no sense in letting it continue to collect dust.
