The spindolyn includes a base that the spindle can twirl on. The spindle is not attached to the base, though, and can be lifted off the base. The spindle also comes with a fabric “pillow” that helps to hold it in your lap. Works great. If you are new to spindle spinning, or you want to teach a child to spin, this is ideal.

I’ve only used this wheel a few times - I’m selling it because I need a lighter weight travel wheel, but it is truly a work of art. FS: DT Merlin Tree Purple Roadbug
Roadbug double treadle spinning wheel which I purchased here on Ravelry in May of 2018. The first owner bought it new at Rheinbeck in 2014. She’d barely used it. It comes with the double treadle, 3 bobbins, orifice hook, oil bottle, instructions, and canvas bag.
Some minor damage occurred during shipping to me from the first owner. One of the bobbins cracked a little, one of the footmen leathers broke and the wooden end of the orifice hook was also cracked a little. All have been well repaired by my husband, a wood worker, and work like new. I have posted photos of all the above and the rest of the leather cord we used to repair the footman is included.
After my husband did his repairs, I took it to visit The Merlin Tree at the 2018 Maine Fiber Frolic where it had a tune-up with Dave. I have kept her clean, oiled, and polished since.
I am selling for two reasons, even though I do love the wheel. First, the wheel is too big to fit in the front of our Toyota Sienna while driving, which is where I had hoped to use it when we go on road trips, so it isn’t able to be the travel wheel that I hoped it would be for me. Additionally, we currently are also facing some major computer issues and we need some funds to assist with those expenses.
I am asking $300 plus actual shipping to your location. An estimate from USPS from Maine to California was about $56 including insurance via retail ground. I potentially would be willing to meet with a buyer within a few hours drive of central Maine. PayPal for payment, please. This is a non-smoking, non-scented household with two cats and while the cats are not allowed to play with my fiber arts things, there may well be some stray hairs.
