I’ve come to the very hard decision to sell my gorgeous Golding Glory spinning wheel in the flemish strapwork design. My house is too rowdy with little boys and big dogs for me to keep it down in the family room or living room, and it’s been in my bedroom, totally unused, for months. It is just too lovely for me to keep a tool I won’t use, and I’m finally ready to admit that I need something less precious or finely tuned so I’m able to use it and not worry about it being ruined.
This wheel spins like the wind, it’s very easy to treadle with either foot or both, the momentum is glorious and it’s completely effortless to spin on. After fussing with my older double drive wheel it’s such a relief and pleasure to sit at a wheel that doesn’t require tons of constant adjustments to draw in or get the right tension or what have you. It just works, steady and consistently.
I recently mailed the flier head, standard bobbin, and standard flier back to the Goldings for a tune up and check over. He completely rebalanced it and gave it a clear bill of health. The wood has been carefully and regularly oiled. Apart from a few dings on the treadles which are from normal wear and use, the wheel is in like new condition and is one year old.
I’m in the Portland, OR metro area and I’d very much love to sell it locally. I am absolutely willing to ship the wheel or get it on a wheel railroad though, if you’re not local.
Also, I purchased an extra standard bobbin separately (for which I paid $85 plus shipping) which I will include with the wheel, for a total of 3 standard bobbins, and one mini bobbin.

I am selling my DT Journey Wheel. It is approximately 5 years old, signed by Jonathan Bosworth in 2011 and used very lightly. I have two bobbins, a travel case. The wheel has one small scratch near the base of one of the treadles. Otherwise it is nearly perfect. I live in Wisconsin and would prefer that I not ship. I’m asking $1400. New wheels (and this is in like new condition) are about $1700 and not available right now. I like this wheel. I simply don’t need it at this time. I have a five spoke, single treadle, Irish tension S10 Concept wheel for sale. It’s not a year old yet. This is the new S10 that is modular and breaks down for travel. Modular means you can switch out to double treadle easily, or trade it to scotch tension, or even change to a three spoke wheel or one hole wheel. The pieces can be bought separately and are easily switched. There’s also a bag Louet offers for easy travel.
This wheel comes as a single treadle, Irish tension, five spoke wheel configuration. It has a sliding eye flyer, three new bobbins and three older bobbins, for a total of six. I’m reluctantly posting my second wheel for sale because I’m no longer doing production spinning. I set it up with the jumbo flyer because a single bobbin can easily hold an entire 4oz braid of roving or batt, and up to 8oz depending on the fiber. I’ve been able to ply 6-8oz skeins, so it’s especially well-suited for those who wish to sell handspun, spin sweater quantities, or create art yarn.
