FS Fancy Kitty Wool Picker Michigan

I cannot ship this item, so this is only available to locals. I am three miles south of East Jordan, MI, on M-66.

I’m selling off my beautiful wool picker. I have owned it about five years, but have hardly used it the past three. It is in excellent condition and I would like to see it go to a good home!

This picker is handmade in the USA by Ron Anderson of Fancy kitty . (You can read more about the picker and his store here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/57655554/studio-bench-wool-p.... There is also a link to a video of the picker in use!) It is made of red oak and red oak veneers, and finished with tung oil. There are 424 stainless steel points. The body is 39.25” long, 7.5” tall, and 11” wide. It has a 9.5” wide by 12” long picking area. The picker bed is easily adjustable with a phillips screwdriver. Please note that my picker has the end caps and top, but does not come with the legs. You will have to place it on a sturdy table or sit on the floor to use it.

And what exactly does it do? Well, it takes washed wool fleece and fluffs it apart for spinning or felting purposes. (It is not recommended to use unwashed fleece, as the lanolin will make the points greasy and sticky.) Picking also removes a large portion of vegetable matter, which can then be swept or vacuumed from the picker bed. I have also used it to blend dyed fleece together. Once the wool is picked, it can be directly spun from or put through a drum carder to align the fibers.

Original value is $599.95. Asking price $300.

Thanks for looking!
